The front legs of a hyena are longer than the hind ones, giving the back a sloping appearance. Despite their reputation as scavengers, hyenas are also skillful hunters; they can crush bones with their strong teeth and jaws. They sleep by day, in caves or burrows. Hyenas range over most of Africa and SW Asia. The spotted hyena, Crocuta crocuta, of Africa S of the Sahara, is the largest and boldest species; it stands 2 1/2 ft (76 cm) high at the shoulder and has a gray coat with irregular patches. It is also known as the laughing hyena, because of its cry, which resembles maniacal laughter. Often abroad in the day as well as at night, it pursues game in packs and even invades camps and villages in search of food. The females are dominant and more aggressive, outranking the males in the pack. Source

African Wild Dog[/color]

African Wild Dogs are about the size of your average domesticated dog, and only distinctively related to wild dogs. When you first notice one of these Dogs, you'll notice their large ears, in which makes them unmistakable. Their muzzles are short, and the base is always black. It runs up their head, and turns to shades of brown or a creamy color. African Wild Dogs have log and slender legs, each with but four toes, and no dewclaws. Their legs make it so they run very gracefully, in long strides. African Wild Dogs are social, living in packs from 5 to 20, rarely reaching 60. These Dogs take down prey from the size of a Zerbra to anything smaller, with the utmost determination. These Dogs only hunt around dusk and dawn, because they rely on sight. Source

Gray Wolf[/color]

Gray Wolves are the largest wolf species, and most popular. Their builds are large, and strong. Gray Wolves live in packs, with an Alpha Female and Male, and Beta Pair. Their legs are large and long, making their speed quiet well, compared to other animals. Gray Wolves hunt during the day and night, for their senses will always lead them. Wolves prefer the night, however, and often howl together in it. Not at the moon, but at any intruders, warning them off. Gray Wolves depend on the pack for care, however lone wolves are popular, and rarely join packs from their lifetime. Gray Wolves are companions to the end, and protect each other to great limits. Maned Wolf[/color]

The Maned Wolf has often been described as "a Red Fox on stilts" owing to its similar coloration and overall appearance, though it is much larger than a Red Fox and belongs to a different genus. The maned wolf is the tallest of the wild canids. The long legs are probably an adaptation to the tall grasslands of its native habitat. Fur of the Maned Wolf may be reddish brown to golden orange on the sides with long, black legs and a distinctive black mane. The mane is erectile, and is typically used to enlarge the wolf's profile when threatened or when displaying aggression.The maned wolf is also known for its distinctive odor, which has earned it the nickname "Skunk Wolf." Unlike other large canids, the Maned Wolf usually does not form packs (here they do), they hunt alone, usually between sundown and midnight. Source

Foxes are among the smallest species on Kypuio. Standing around 46 - 86 centimeters on average. Most commonly, the Red fox lives in many different habitats such as forests, grasslands, mountains, and deserts. Foxes are fair hunters, but are most commonly known as scavengers. Getting their paws on anything ediable. The fox have earned a high status for their cunning and intellegent ways. Most fox have a thick long pelt of dark orange, blacks and whites. Nearly all fox species are loners and don't particuarlly stick close with family once able to care for itself. They are easy to adopt and very clever with their resources around them. A sharp and quick yelp is refered to their calling, that of which for warning &/or mating. Source
